Mackinac Island

We took a ferry to Mackinac Island today.  The island has banned motorized vehicles for more than a century, leaving bicycles and horses as the only means of transportation.  In our nation's early history, Fort Mackinac was a strategic commercial and military post due to its location at the intersection of the Great Lakes.  The fort is still manned by some role players who demonstrated a cannon salute.

Mackinac Island's views, history (and fudge!) made it a necessary stop on our adventure.

  1. I just read this post to Chloe and she said, "They took a FAIRY to an ISLAND!" She was less impressed when she found out that a ferry is a boat. Then she said, "Mom, I want to do everything that they're doing! Tell them I want to go where they're going, and so does Bunny. Tell them, 'Next time you go somewhere exciting, make sure to take me and Bunny, because Bunny is very sensitive.'" I am not kidding - she really said that!

    We love you!
